Our story begins in Honolulu
Unlike the mainland, we are limited on playing senior softball on approved SSUSA fields. Only Oahu has four parks in a single complex to host such events.
So we need to improvise on our current fields so we’re able to play mainland-type senior softball tournaments.
Big Island has two fields we can use. Central Maui has a complex, but it’s not used for senior softball. Kauai only has two locations, one on each side of the island, but their fields are shorter and will need to be modified for our specs.
We are going to start out with a pilot program on big island in April 2021 to see if this format will work.
Rotating tournament play on all the islands is not for everyone as it is a financial commitment and some players may have travel issues.
